Popular Twitch Streamers CouRageJD, TeePee, LEGIQN, and Syndicate have showcased the first Call of Duty Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay. In this gameplay, the streamers showcased new game mode ‘Gunfight’ in the Infinity Ward studios in Los Angeles. Full multiplayer gameplay reveals will take place on August 1st 10 am pst/1pm et/6 pm in the UK.
Despite this initial tease only be that a tease, we did learn a lot of new information of the multiplayer universe in Modern Warfare. The new game mode ‘Gunfight’ is a 2v2 mode – similar face-off from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. However, there are some major differents to that fan-favorite mode.
The team first to six rounds win the game. Each round lasts 40 seconds, and to avoid camping, once them 40 seconds are up a flag, which you would see in Domination will appear in the middle of the map, and the first team to capture and hold the flag for 3 seconds will win the round.
There is no create-a-class, with the weapons being random at the start of each round, but these weapons are the same for all 4 players – therefore, there is no clear advantage. These weapons can range from an AUG assault rifle to an all throwing knife round. There is no killstreaks, perks, and health does not regenerate (as of writing, we do not know if the automatic health regeneration will return in Modern Warfare, which was absent from last years release: Black Ops 4).
This game mode has its own individual maps aside from the regular multiplayer maps. The maps that were playable in this demo were: Pine – which is set in a forest, Stack – a container yard in a desert, and King – a warehouse training facility, which seems to share many similarities to the Killhouse multiplayer map in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
