After weeks of waiting, Call of Duty: MW2 and Warzone 2 Season 5 have been officially announced. The new Season of the famous shooter includes various items from new weapons, operators, and even rappers for celebrating 50 years of HipHop! However, among the important news on Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 roadmap, there is news about the reveal date of Call of Duty 2023, known as Modern Warfare 3. Ready to review the intel soldier? Let’s dive into it, starting with Warzone.
Coming Up in Warzone 2 Season 5
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is currently rebranded as Warzone in the official Activision’s CoD blog posts. However, to avoid misunderstanding, we will refer to it as Warzone 2 for now. This game’s DMZ mode will feature the continuation of Modern Warfare 2‘s story mode in Season 5. And there’ll be lots of content for the free Call of Duty battle royale game that we’ll discuss here.
Champion’s Quest in Vondel
See that neon-looking Lachmann-Sub SMG in the image above? This is the prize for all the Champion’s Quest in Warzone 2 Season 5. This quest begins right after you update the game on August 2, and you’ll have to do a certain task to finish it. Can you endure the trials?
First, you need to win five times in a row in the Vondel map. After that, a new Champion’s Quest contract will appear for you on the map in the next match you take. This contract will mark the location of three radioactive elements in the game, which you need three other team members to handle and carry. The elements, however, give each player a perk. Here are the elements of Vondel Champion’s Quest in Warzone 2 Season 5:
- Gallium: The player carrying Gallium will see all the other operators who had picked this element even once. This perk works like a Snapshot Grenade.
- Deuterium: The Deuterium element holder will prevent all the nearby operators from sprinting. The invaded operators will have a coughing effect.
- Neptunium: The last element on the Champion’s Quest of Vondel will have an electric effect. Remember how Electro Shockwaves worked in The Boys crossover event of Season 4? This is the same thing with a different name and nerfed effect.
New Vehicles in Warzone 2 Season 5
There’ll be Dirt Bikes and MRAPs in battle royale and Resurgence maps of Warzone 2 in Season 5. The Dirt Bikes are just like regular Bikes but with some dirt on them. You can use these to travel much faster than a car on the maps. But for the MRAP, you can use this vehicle to move around the map, with a ton of HP for enemy players to deal with. They can not take you down while inside this super-armored vehicle. So if you just wanted to move safely across the map and listen to some music, that’s your ride.
New DMZ Faction Rises in Warzone 2 Season 5
The note from Call of Duty‘s blog tells that Shadow Company is seemingly fighting a new threat called the Konni. This is a new faction, which is believed to be Makarov and his allies. But a good thing to know is that Shadow Company soldiers on the maps won’t attack you any longer in DMZ maps. But if you attack them, they’ll shoot back.
New DMZ Gear
There are a total of four new gear being added to the game in DMZ Season 5:
- Disguise Field Upgrade: As the name suggests, this Field Upgrade will allow you to wear an AI faction troop’s uniform. Doing this will grant you to move among the enemy AIs of that faction with no harm.
- Battle Revive: Ever used a Battle Rage field upgrade? This is the same thing, but after you use a self-revive. A Battle Revive activates the effects of Battle Rage after you complete your self-reviving sequence.
- Self-Revive Box: It’s a Season of Revives, isn’t it? This is a Field Upgrade allowing you and your teammates to grab a self-revive from it.
- Scuba Gas Mask: This is an ordinary Gas Mask item you can find around the map, but with new filters to survive underwater.
Call of Duty 2023 Reveal Will Be A Warzone Event
This is the most important thing to know about Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 5! It looks like the Konni faction has taken control of some parts of Al-Mazrah. And as a result, they’re trying to extract a chemical weapon which can be very dangerous in the wrong hands. However, Farrah and Alex are here to help Philip Graves stop the Konni from doing so. This happening will be a real-time event in Warzone 2 Season 5, like the way we nuked Verdansk back in 2021.
But the important thing about the event is that we’ll get to see the reveal of the next Call of Duty game afterward. Vladimir Makarov is known to be the next badman of the MW story, and if Call of Duty 2023 is, in fact, Modern Warfare 3, then we’ll get to see him soon.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 Content
Aside from the Warzone 2 and DMZ Season 5 content, we’ll have new content coming for MW2 as well. This includes new game mods and maps.
New Maps in MW2 Season 5
There will be a total of 5 maps coming to MW2 Multiplayer game modes in Season 5. DRC – Zone 1, Canal, Lounge, Strike, and Punta Mar. Now if Punta Mar sounds familiar to you, it is as it should! It’s a returning map from Call of Duty 4 that’s been remade for MW2 Season 5 experience.
New Season 5 Game Mode Will Bring Havoc to The Battleground
There are a number of new game modes coming into MW2 Season 5. These include the 4v4 Faceoff, Havoc, Big Capture The Flag, and Armored Fights.
The 4v4 Faceoff is exactly as it sounds. It’s a 4v4 Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed. You can use your own loadouts in this game mode, but you’ll be playing an 8-man game in small Gunfight maps! That’s why you’re not allowed a Killstreak on this mode.
The Havoc mode brings some unrealistic perks into the game. For example, they’re bringing The Boys‘ crossover of Warzone 2 Super Jump ability in MW2 Havoc mode in Season 5! Or you can float in the air with Moon Gravity. This is a new addition to make the game more fun, but your team needs to get 12, 24, 36, 48, and 60 kills to get each perk.
The Big Capture The Flag mode here is also the same thing as it says in the title. It’s a Capture The Flag match on big scales and bigger maps like Maziweh Marshlands. You’ll play a 20v20 Capture The Flag game with armored vehicles and helicopters in this mode.
The Armored Fights is ultimately the combination of other game modes featuring armor plates. You can plate up your operator in modes like Team Deathmatch for longer TTK timing.
New Weapons in Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 5
Here comes the good part for those of you who like to tune the weapons in the Gunsmith 2.0. In Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 5, the developers are bringing six new toys for us, two of which will be available right at the beginning of the new Season.
The first one is the FR Avancer. This is basically Famas from the old Call of Duty games and Black Ops Cold War. With FR Avancer, you have a fully automatic rapid-fire Assault Rifle in your hands. Capable of dealing high damage, this weapon will have a ton of recoil and less accuracy than most of the other guns in its class. But as far as weapon tunings go, you just have to wait until we give you the best loadout of it to moderate FR Avancer’s recoil with The Nerd Stash’s loadout guides!
And the next weapon available at launch in Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 5 is the Carrack .300 Sniper Rifle. SRs are like back pain in Warzone 2, as you can not one-shot enemies easily with them. If you’re tired of this trend throughout the Seasons, the Carrack .300 is here to deliver. It’s not actually designed to one-shot the opponents. Conversely, it has a very high fire rate to shoot your second shot at the target and finish him off as quickly as possible.
Graves Is Back With New Shadow Company Operators
There are no new Seasons of Call of Duty without new operators, and Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 5 is no exception. Remember Philip Graves from the Shadow Company in the MW2 campaign? He’s back with no scratch, even after you blew him up in a tank. And this time, he’s got some new friends called OZ, Mila, Mace, and Velikan beside him, all unlockable with Season 5 Battle Pass.
Additionally, to celebrate 50 years of HipHop, Activision is bringing some of the most famous rappers like Snoop Dog and Nicki Minaj to the game! These operators are all sold in bundles and have their own gun effects and blueprints that you can get.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and MW2 Season 5 will go live on August 2, 2023.
