Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Dark Aether story is set to be in the same universe as the Modern Warfare and Black Ops games. But this wasn’t the case before the events of Black Ops 4. Alternate timelines and universes have always separated the Call of Duty Zombies narrative from the Campaign before MW 2019, and this practice seems to be the way for MWZ in the upcoming updates. A recent video by TheGamingRevolution points out a huge multiverse scenario, hiding in the MW3 Zombies/MWZ Season 3 Reloaded images released by Activision.
MWZ Season 3 Reloaded Dark Aether Multiverse Theory
If you take a closer look at what Activision has released for the next Dark Aether rift in the MWZ Season 3 Reloaded post, you might also spot a mysterious thing. It’s on the right side of the image below:
Now we know that inside the Dark Aether, a lot is going on with many floating and glitching items in the space. But oh my god is that a planet? Or more precisely, is that Earth? The last time we got to have a glimpse at Earth from the outside was in The Moon from Black Ops 1. However, this time, we’re not on the Moon to witness Earth from the outside, thus firing up this theory that the Earth in the MWZ Season 3 Reloaded update is a planet/universe from the multiverse.
In fact, this reminds us of the first images of Kronorium that emerged after the release of Black Ops 2 and its following storyline featuring the multiverse in Black Ops 3. The omniverse with its dimensions was first introduced in these games and then destroyed forever in Black Ops 4, banishing all of its existence to the Dark Aether.
But we’re visiting Dark Aether more than once in the MW3 Zombies, and the previous CoD multiverse is in there, right? In that case, we might be seeing the multiverse with different universes, timelines, and Earths in the Dark Aether with the next rifts we’re about to visit in MWZ Season 3 Reloaded, Season 4, and so on.
This is an absolutely perfect plot for the developers if they want to extend the Dark Aether storyline, allowing the previous characters of the old Call of Duty Zombies era to play a role. With Treyarch out of the picture for MW3 Zombies, however, this grand scheme might only be revealed in the next Call of Duty title. MWZ’s final updates are probably working as a teaser for what’s about to come with the Black Ops Gulf War.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is currently available to play on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
