Since the release of Pokemon Go, the fire dog Growlithe and its second form – Arcanine, have become valuable allies for trainers in many battles. As the loyal dog Pokemon that worked with Officer Jenny in the original anime story, Growlithe has become a prized trophy in any player’s collection, whose popularity only increased with the release of its shiny version. But what about Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine? This bushy-maned Hisuian version of Growlithe did not have a Shiny form in Pokemon Go until recently. But can an Out to Play event change that? Here, you will find the answer.

Can You Catch Shiny Growlithe in Pokemon Go

If you’re looking for the short answer, Yes, both the classic and Hisuian versions of Growlithe can be shiny in Pokemon Go. As we said earlier, the classic Growlithe and Arcanine arrived in the gaming world along with the release of Pokemon Go, and in September 2018, they received their unique versions. During this time, this pocket monster visited the game world dozens of times, and players had plenty of time to get its rare version. But as for Hisuian Growlithe, it just received its shiny version on September 27, 2023, during the Out to Play event.

Luckily, Out to Play has just begun, and you have plenty of time to find the Pokemon you want. From September 27 to October 2, 2023, you will be walking a lot while enjoying the recent innovation of Routes. But besides the classic Buddy Candy farming boosters and increased experience, you can find dozens of Growlithe around you. The chance of finding a shiny version is only 1 in 500, so you must make the most of your event time to succeed. Additionally, using a couple of Incense and Lures will increase your chances of success. And if you’re lucky, you might even encounter a few Arcanine in the wild.

But as for Hisuian Growlithe and its shiny version, unfortunately, it is not so easy to find. You will have to walk a lot, opening the 2 and 7-kilometer eggs from which it can hatch. On the other hand, the chance of getting a Shiny Pokemon from an egg is higher than in the wild, so your efforts will not be in vain. In addition, this is not the only way because Out to Play offers you several Field Research and Timed Research Tasks, which will reward you with a meeting with Growlithe and Hisuian Growlithe.

Finally, we will add that from now on, all versions of Growlithe have a shiny version. And even if you miss events, that Pokemon is no longer unattainable, and you can wait for the next event or get this Pokemon by trading with another player.

Pokemon Go is available on iOS and Android.
