Capcom’s Resident Evil series has been hitting its stride in all the recent entries, whether they are remakes, new titles, or maybe even future spin-offs. And now it seems that not only is the series’ next step on the way, but Capcom is working on another big project that has yet to be revealed. In a discussion within the Snitcher’s Discord group, a well-known horror game insider, DuskGolem, was questioned regarding Resident Evil 9. DuskGolem responded with a release window of 2025 for the new Resident Evil game and an announcement in the preceding year.
Capcom has been releasing Resident Evil games after every two years since Resident Evil 7 came out in 2017. The developers have also been alternating between remakes and new entries. With that in mind, DuskGolem’s prediction makes a lot of sense. That could also mean that another remake might come out in 2027, but that’s quite a while away.
Capcom Working On Resident Evil 9 & Another Big Project
But that wasn’t all the leaker shared. According to him, Capcom is working on another big game (possibly AAA) that will be announced within 2023 and is planned for release in fall 2024. Although he didn’t give any further details on what this new game is. It could either be Monster Hunter since it hasn’t seen a new entry in a while, or a brand-new IP altogether. It could even be DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake. Capcom is clearly expanding its horizons with games like Pragmata and Exoprimal.
Resident Evil Village got a DLC as well titled Shadow of the Rose. It puts what happened in the DLC and at the end of Village, it would be quite sensible to assume that Resident Evil 9 might have a completely new cast of characters if it comes out in 2025.
While the leaker in question has a proven track record when it comes to horror games, a lot of the discussion here is purely conjecture, and so, should be taken with a grain of salt until Capcom makes an official announcement.
