Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, will be making her film debut before she gets her own film. The superhero will supposedly be appearing in some form during Avengers: Infinity War.
The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has stated that there will be casting news for Captain Marvel within the next few months. Going hand in hand with that information, the folks over at Heroic Hollywood have stated that whoever is cast as Carol Danvers will be on the set of Avengers: Infinity War, which is scheduled to start shooting this winter. Part one of this two-part epic will release on May 4, 2018. The Captain Marvel solo film is not scheduled for release until March 8, 2019.
Not much information has been released yet about Captain Marvel. The screenplay is being written by the duo of Nicole Perlman and Meg LaFauve. Perlman has worked as a writer on previous Marvel films Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy and has also been linked to the solo Black Widow film. LaFauve comes from the realm of Pixar, having previously written for the both The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out, the latter of which she was nominated for several awards, including an Oscar.
Captain Marvel would be the first female character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get their own solo film. It is also one of the last films of Marvel’s “Phase Three,” which begins with Captain America: Civil War and ends with either Avengers: Infinity War Part Two or Inhumans, which was recently removed from Disney’s release schedule. Even though no casting information has been released yet, UFC athlete Ronda Rousey has campaigned on social media to be cast as Carol Danvers.
