Cardi B was not amused with Madonna‘s sex book jab. On Friday, the iconic singer posted on her Instagram story to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her controversial ‘sex book’.
Madonna called out people who have criticized her because of the book, but she believes she has empowered a “new generation of stars.”
The Grammy Award winner continued by explaining how people tried to shame her for empowering herself as a woman. She related how she was called “a whore, a witch, a heretic, and the devil” because of her book.
Madonna finished up her statement by adding that because of her sex book legacy “Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP…” She also mentioned Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus who can now be comfortable with showing off their naked bodies. Madonna finished off the post with “you’re welcome…” while adding a clown emoji.
How Did Cardi B React To Madonna’s Statement?
Cardi B did not just sweep the singer’s statement under the carpet, she decided to address it. On Twitter, the rapper had pointed out a post where she had called Madonna her “real life IDOL.”
Cardi tweeted how she respects Madonna and listened to her music while growing up. She then added that the Madame X artist can make her point “without putting clown emojis and getting slick out the mouth.”
After a while when the Up rapper tweeted this, she tweeted again about how she and the Icon had made up. Apparently, they spoke about it and cleared whatever misunderstanding there was between them. The singer also tweeted about her love for Cardi B.
What Was The Controversy Surrounding The ‘Sex Book’?
Per People, 64-year-old Madonna released her book about sex a day after dropping her fifth album titled Erotica. The book was released in October 1992. The book spent three weeks at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list. The sales of the book were massive as it sold more than 1.5 million copies during its first and only printing.
The Evita star’s book ‘SEX’ was published in addition to pictures of her naked. “There were photos of men kissing men, woman [sic] kissing woman…”
Madonna’s book about sex caused a lot of controversies then because she also wrote about her sexual fantasies in the book. The Icon is a lover of sex and is not ashamed to say it anywhere.
