The 2025 Conclave ended with Cardinal Robert Prevost emerging as the new Pope, becoming the first-ever American to be elected. However, given the current political climate in America, his election has become the subject of political scrutiny.

The new pope, Leo XIV, was named after a third round of voting among the College of Cardinals. For his first message, he delivered a speech in Spanish and Italian on “peace and dialogue.”

The 69-year-old pontiff briefly explained his journey in the Catholic community. He recalled his years as an Augustinian priest who spent many of his missionary years in Peru. Per LiveNowFox, the late Pope Francis viewed the Chicago native as his heir apparent, giving him a major position in the Vatican.

In 2023, the deceased Pope appointed the 69-year-old to head the office in charge of nominations of bishops worldwide. As soon as Prevost was announced, congratulations followed, with President Donald Trump leading the cheers. The president took to Truth Social, penning a lengthy congratulatory message.

“Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope. It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It would be a very meaningful moment!”

Cardinal Robert Prevost Election Sparks Rigging Allegations

However, some netizens opined that the Chicago native was the wrong choice for the position. Other users even suspected that Trump had influenced the election. One netizen wrote, “An American pope in this time of history cannot be a good sign.”

Another person claimed there were irregularities in the election process. “USA RIGGED THE ELECTION WITH THEIR INFLUENCE.” A third person agreed, writing, “USA? JD Vance met him before the election. Does this mean the USA has something to do with the election?”

A fourth person shared a photo showing the vice president with the deceased pontiff and another top Vatican official. The person wrote in the caption, “USA KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING ALL THIS WHILE!!”

This observer seemingly called the new Catholic leader a part of the Antichrist, writing, “The prophecy of him being the last pope and antichrist might be true…”

Weeks back, the vice president was also labeled as part of the Antichrist after Pope Francis passed away hours after their first meeting. Vance was accused of using his “evil eye” to cause the pope’s death. As expected, there is no proof of the theories.

Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Prevost!
