No one is exempt from workplace accidents. However, some of them occur in completely avoidable situations. Recently, a roofing company in Texas demonstrated that it might not be suitable to drive a vehicle outside a truck, as you can see in the video, the roofer was supposed to drive the forklift out when tragedy struck, and an accident happened. While thankfully no one got hurt, it still led to a chaotic and a bit funny situation that might make us think the ones involved should not be operating this type of machinery.
In the clip, you can see a roofing company arriving at a work site. However, one of the workers is taking a forklift out of what appears to be a large truck. Yet, instead of doing so in a careful manner, they do it in the most chaotic possible way. As you can see, the Texas roofer and forklift driver loses control of the vehicle, smashes it against the window of the cargo truck, and then falls to the ground. You can also see how the worker flies away as soon as the forklift falls. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem the vehicle harmed them, as the driver was just flung to the side with no visible injuries.
Also, while we’re sure the forklift is the one that sustained the most damage, the cargo vehicle and the truck that houses it appear unscathed. There isn’t any broken glass or vehicle parts around, which means that this little accident was not too costly, or at least that’s what we hope for the roofing company employees.
In any case, it is alarming to see this happening because, while no one was harmed, from what we can gather from this video, things could have gone way worse in other circumstances. Someone could have been next to the cargo vehicle, and if the forklift had fallen on them, that would be a whole different story.
Since nothing too bad happened, many Redditors decided to throw a few witty comments at those involved in the incident.
“First and LAST day on the job,” said Gregorygregory888888.
“Dude definitely wasn’t certified. Always strap in. Never leave the cage if you want to live,” commented p9zk.
As you can see, the forklift driver jumped out when the vehicle fell. Fortunately, it seems he is the one who fell on top of the machinery, not the other way around. We can only hope that these roofing employees are alright and that next time they handle that forklift better.
