Carrie Underwood returned to her roots when she opted to become a judge on American Idol. The country singer got her start on the reality singing competition series. So, when Katy Perry decided to leave the panel, Underwood stepped in. She joins Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as the only female judge. Of course, Ryan Seacrest is still there to perform hosting duties. Seacrest and Underwood have a long history, and now that they’re working together again it has allegedly created a bit of buzz on the set of the show.
According to the November 4 edition of The Globe, Ryan Seacrest is beyond thrilled to have Carrie Underwood join American Idol. He’s so happy that he’s been personally showing her the ropes and their relationship has started to raise eyebrows. It’s even causing some issues with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
Ryan Seacrest Has Taken Carrie Underwood Under His Wing
“Everyone’s glad Carrie’s joined the panel,” an insider tells the outlet. “She’s not only a huge talent, who contributes so much to the show, she’s also a sweetheart to boot, but Ryan’s taking his idolatry to a crazy level.
“She’s quite nervous and wants to do her best job, and Ryan’s appointed himself Carrie’s guiding light. She’s his favorite, he gives her most if not all his attention and when she speaks, he’s all ears.”
Meanwhile, Richie and Bryan aren’t holding a judge against Underwood. If anything, they’ve also fallen in love with the country singer. However, they are said to be upset due to Seacrest’s fawning. It’s reportedly making them feel like they are “not as important” to the show.
“The guys are pretty spellbound by Carrie, too, and they don’t blame her a bit,” the informant dished. “But Ryan’s obvious preferential treatment of her has their noses out of joint, and they’re getting really mad at him. They would greatly appreciate it if Ryan could take it down a peg or three!”
Fans are excited about Carrie Underwood joining American Idol as a judge. After she won Season 4 of the show, she went on to become a huge star. With hits like Jesus Take The Wheel and Before He Cheats. She’ll likely be a great mentor to the contestants.
