Carrie Underwood is said to be causing some issues behind the scenes of American Idol. As a former winner of the reality singing show, the country star was asked to return to the series as a judge. However, she’s allegedly stirred up some controversy with her behavior. Sources claim that she’s been in full diva mode since starting the gig, especially since she made headlines for her performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration back in January.
This marks Carrie Underwood’s first year as an American Idol judge. Although her fellow co-stars, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, as well as host Ryan Seacrest, are season vets, she has been trying to steal the show. An insider for Radar Online says that the “Before He Cheats” songbird is demanding a high level of treatment.
“She’s making it very clear that she wants the VIP treatment,” an informant dished. “Word is, she wants plenty of staff, limo service, all her favorite foods, even the temperature to be a certain way.”
The insider went on to claim that despite taking a lot of backlash online for her affiliation with President Trump, Underwood has been holding her head up high while walking through the halls of American Idol. She’s not letting any of the chatter bother her. Instead, she’s allegedly telling the higher ups that “she won’t tolerate anything less than the best.”

It’s said that many on set think that Carrie’s overdoing it with the diva demands and attitude. However, she’s trying to put herself in a position of power. She reportedly doesn’t want to be treated any less than the existing cast members. However, she’s rubbing many the wrong way, and people have allegedly started to call her a “perks-craving brat.”
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Underwood has been called out for her diva behavior. As previously reported, the country music superstar allegedly threw a “hissy fit” on inauguration day. On top of reportedly showing up to the event with an army of her own security, she also allegedly demanded a handmade designer dress to wear during her performance of America the Beautiful. In addition, she insisted on bringing a team of 20 people with her and pushed for tickets for her friends and family as well.
“Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received. She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterwards,” a source later told The Daily Mail.
Fans have yet to see if Carrie Underwood will cement herself as a top tier American Idol judge. However, she does have the unique perspective of understanding what the contestants are going through. Perhaps that will help her win over viewers.
