Boston is home to some of the most iconic sports franchises in the entire world. While most towns or cities are lucky to have even one sports franchise they care about, let alone the treasure trove New England gets across every major sporting league in the country. Now, the Boston Bruins and the Patriots are obviously titans of their own, but when it comes to long-lasting, iconic, see the logo anywhere in the world and know who they are, nothing competes with the Boston Celtics and the Boston Red Sox. The real question is, which of these two teams is the most iconic?
Now, of course, the Sox and the C’s go through their ups and downs. Low streaks and highs, but part of being a Boston sports fan is perpetual misery and depression despite being spoiled with insane amounts of success. Bruins, Patriots, Celtics, and Sox have all won championships, plural, in our lifetime. The age of the curse, or consistent failures, or championships of the past looming large over the current generation. Now we are unabashed champions, home of the de facto sports nuts with the teams to match the local passion.
Boston is key to all of this, home to the Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox. Now, between the Sox and C’s, which team is more relevant and iconic can shift and adjust almost purely based on their current success. However, both teams have been consistently good to great in the last decade or so, with every new season an equal opportunity between each of them to hunt down their respective championship. Of course, historically, these teams have been great. Let’s take a look at each franchises championship pedigrees.
Now, the Boston Red Sox have been around for over a century. That type of longevity is something that can’t be denied, and the team and Fenway Park itself are cornerstones of American history and culture at this point. The Boston Red Sox have won 14 American League Pennants and 9 World Series championships.
The Boston Celtics are no strangers to success either, sporting an even more impressive championship pedigree. They have won a whopping 18 NBA Championships, more than any other team in league history.
With all that being said, what do y’all think? There’s nothing Boston sports fans love more than a good, heated sports debate. So let us know your thoughts on the two legendary Boston sports franchises, and tell everybody who you think is more iconic.
