It’s fair to say they don’t mess around in Argentina. A phone thief on a bicycle found that out the hard way when a a woman wipes him out with a chair! The clip, going viral on Reddit, shows the thief get what he deserves in spectacular fashion.
The footage is captured by a fixed camera, presumably CCTV. It shows two women enjoying each other’s company at a café table on the sidewalk. Suddenly, something attracts the women’s attentions. One of them jumps up, picks up a chair, and throws it at a black-clad cyclist speeding into view. At the same time, a waitress from the café collides with the thief.
The combination of the thrown chair and the waitress’s intervention sends the phone thief flying off his bike. He smashes to the sidewalk in a heap and a phone skitters to the ground, presumably the one he tried to steal.
As if that’s not enough, the waitress aims some vicious kicks at the thief. Clearly, she wasn’t best pleased by the attempted robbery. Reddit was quick to pick up on it, with one commenter stating, “Damn that seemed personal to all people involved.” As other Redditors remark, though, it should be that attempting to steal gets you in hot water like this. Too often we see people get away with disgraceful behavior without so much as a slap on the wrist. “It’s great to see communities police themselves,” one user remarked.
It’s particularly notable that the spectacular save took place in Argentina, where it may be more acceptable to take the law into your own hands. One Redditor confirmed as much: “Argentinian here. Its always personal.”
Others lamented that in their countries, such as the UK, they’d get sued if they took such action. One commenter suggested you’d get fired for taking the law into your own hands. Of course, we can’t know for sure if the guy on the bike was actually a phone thief, although his actions and attire suggest as much. You don’t cycle full speed along a sidewalk if you’re out for a leisurely ride.
Whatever the context, there’s no denying it’s a spectacular way to take someone out.
