It’s been months since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, yet the extremist members of his fanbase still terrorize those who oppose his views. One particular family in California received an unexpected letter on Christmas Eve with an implied threat that their safety is at risk. The reason was that one of the family members posted their distaste of Kirk and his followers on Facebook, and the Nevada-based Charlie Kirk Data Foundation didn’t take too kindly to the criticism.
“We suggest you may want to consider relocating, changing your contact information … and keeping your family safe,” the so-called foundation tells the Californian who dared to criticize the dead radical’s viewpoint. “Normally I would laugh this off if it wasn’t for the implied threat to my and my family’s safety,” they remark on a Reddit post explaining the concerning situation. “I should consider relocating to keep my family safe?! That’s a threat if I’ve ever received one.”
The threatened user does share their doubts about whether the official-sounding ‘Charlie Kirk Data Foundation’ is actually affiliated with Kirk, his family, or organization. Not to mention, the account that sent the letter has undergone multiple name changes and websites. “News sites claim that they raised at least $30k in crypto donations in a few days after Charlie’s death,” the user pointed out, linking an article to CNN. Fortunately, they have already taken the proper steps and contacted the authorities about the matter, considering how an actual threat was stated in the letter.
“This is actual American terrorism. Profascism,” exclaimed a top-upvoted commenter. “Yup. These people are actually terrorists. In the land of the free, it looks like they are free to trample on your freedoms. MAGA does not care about America,” chimed in another. Others remarked how ironic it is that the far-right extremists feel it is all right for them to threaten people on account of their leaders or viewpoints being criticized. “If this is legit, you’re well within your rights to sue them,” said a third.
Hopefully, this letter is just an empty threat by cowards, seeing how they didn’t leave a return address for the receiver. Still, threatening the safety of one’s family goes to show just how irrational and possibly dangerous some radicals can be.
