Lots of good Samaritans hit the brakes for animals that wander too close to the street. Often, the story ends there. Yet some of the do-gooders choose to extend their kindness one step further. When a photographer in Chicago, Illinois, spotted a dog running into the road, she pulled her car over to shoo him away from the potential dangers. Much to her surprise, he ran to her car and jumped into her lap, straight through her driver’s side window.
The Illinois resident, known as gems_photography on her TikTok channel, pulled out her phone and recorded the hilarious exchange. The dog ran around every seat in her car, including the one that was occupied by a female passenger. At some point, he knocked over somebody’s coffee. Droplets of drink can be seen in her footage, splashing all over the place. Despite the utter chaos, the women in the car could not stop laughing uproariously.
When they were able to compose themselves, they opened the doors of the vehicle, allowing the dog to get out. On the way, he grabbed hold of a pizza box in her back seat, as though he was getting a treat.
Viewers were quick to leave comments, commending the Illinois women for being such good sports. Others seemed just as elated watching the feel-good situation play out on their socials.
“The zoomies in the car is diabolical[!],” one viewer joked, while others mentioned he was either on a quest for Scooby snacks, or wanted to go get a pup cup from Starbucks.
Loose Chicago Dog Returned to His Illinois Home
More than a few of Gem’s followers wanted to know what became of her fur friend after their funny exchange. It turns out he’s back with his owners, according to her update in the comments section:
We found his house! It was right by where he was standing in the middle of the street at… He was just being a naughty boy and left his front yard!
Gem went on to mention that she has two dogs of her own, but was also caught off guard by the canine’s chaotic intrusion. “He stole our box of pizza and went home!” she replied to the people concerned.
Though the dog is safe and sound with his Chicago family, Gem says there was a downside. She had to clean up two spilled cups of caffeine, which the dog sent flying all over the sunroof and dashboard of her SUV.
