A man in Chicago cosplayed as Adolf Hitler with a mission in mind, but ended up meeting another citizen on the road who questioned his choices thoroughly. A video posted on Reddit showed a man dressed in a Nazi uniform featuring a round cap, a matching shirt, black trousers, and black boots. Someone behind the camera could be heard reaching out to him.
“Hey, what’s your name?” the person asked. “Adolf Hitler,” the man responded. Trying to get more clarification, the man behind the camera pressed further, emphasizing the name, asking, “Why are you doing this?” “Mexicans and Jews,” the supposed Adolf Hitler replied. Confused, the man behind the camera asked him to elaborate again. “Illegal immigrants and Jews,” Chicago’s Hitler impersonator responded, signifying he was specifically dressed that way because of illegals in the country.
It appeared as though the man behind the camera had lost his patience as he began firing at the man relentlessly. “You guys are the illegal immigrants. You need to read a book. You need to be educated before you make assumptions like that and you do some stupid [expletive],” the man fired.
Ready to take on the heated conversation, the guy cosplaying as Hitler responded as though he was confused about the point the citizen was trying to make. “Are you sick in the head?” the citizen fired again, wanting to be sure. “Who walks around like this?” he further questioned, expressing concern over why anyone would choose to walk around as Hitler in broad daylight.
In no time, the conversation shifted toward Trump. The man dressed as Hitler stated he didn’t fear Trump, while the citizen referred to him and many others as Trump’s puppets. Relentlessly, the citizen continued insulting the man, calling him uneducated. In response, the man asked, “Are you MS-13?” implying that all his tattoos made him look like one.
The citizen continued to fire back seriously, while the man emphasized that he didn’t care about any of it. He even went so far as to point out the consequences of the man’s actions. “No one’s going to bear kids with you,” he said. But the man remained unbothered, turning a deaf ear to the citizen. “And I hope you find peace and love,” the citizen added.
Netizens didn’t take a back seat in the comments, and instead reacted strongly. “This is what Trump’s dehumanizing and hateful rhetoric gets us, where a dude feels confident enough to walk around his neighborhood as Hitler. [expletive] is wrong with anyone who is OK with any of this, from Trump’s rhetoric to this,” one person wrote. Another added, “When more people start going this far, they’re gonna learn real [expletive] fast why you don’t cosplay as Hitler or Nazis.”
Another commenter wrote, “I’ve heard that telling these people they are freaks and lightly making fun of them is the quickest way to take away their confidence. They expect anger, so not giving it to them is an easy way to bring them down.” Someone else chimed in,“If he did this in Germany, he’d be in jail for a longgggggg time,” referring to how such actions are punished in other countries.
Sounding confused, another user added, “Imagine an America where Nazis can wander the streets freely without a care. What the [expletive] happened to this country?” This Redditor wrote, “We are being way too tolerant of this nonsense,” criticizing how lenient society has become toward such behavior.
