An elderly man in Chicago, Illinois, has taken the spotlight during a confrontation with ICE officers, where he is seen mocking and insulting them by pulling some “moves” after some workers were allegedly grabbed from a home front yard in what is a historically conservative neighborhood.
According to Reddit user RoachedCoach, the incident took place at Edison Park, located in northwest Chicago. Allegedly, what triggered the brief exchange between the aforementioned man was the U.S. Border Patrol grabbing workers from a home front yard. Then, they are accused of taking them to a “prisoner van.”
In the video shared by RoachedCoach, the man can be seen mocking law enforcement agents’ attire, including their sunglasses and helmets, calling it an attempt to intimidate people. He is also shown parodying the agents’ walking by pulling some moves.
“I’ll kick your [expletive], you piece of [expletive],” the man is heard saying.
Other neighbors were not amused, with a woman reportedly confronting Border Patrol and ICE by saying, “You’re in the most conservative neighborhood in the city and nobody wants you there.”
A Stark Contrast, Reactions
And the woman would be right. According to Chicago Magazine, the city’s 41st Ward, where Edison Park is located, is considered very conservative and home to a significant number of Trump supporters.
This stark contrast between the neighborhood’s historic political tendencies and the reaction to ICE officers and U.S. Border Patrol agents was quickly noted by many users online.
One user said, “[Expletive] idiots maybe shouldn’t have voted for them to be there.” Another added, “I grew up in Edison park…it’s nothing but cops ..firemen a drink city workers..and even they hate them..!!!”
However, most were quick to praise the man’s mockery, proving that he is an exception to the rule.
“Grandpa is out here busting balls, I love it,” one user commented. A second user said, “Buy this guy as many beers as he wants and send me the bill.” A third one quoted Foo Fighters’ “My Hero”, while a fourth one echoed the sentiment by writing, “This guy is my hero.”
There are no additional details regarding how many workers were grabbed or their current whereabouts.
