A man in Chicago, Illinois, using Black History Month as an excuse, publicly called out two White ‘ladies’ into opening a door for him. After some “convincing,” the women complied, leading to a viral TikTok and a fueled debate in the comments section.

I have 30 million dollars and I get to share it with the women I love

The clip was shared by user foreverband (Forever), whose content features several real-life interactions during which racial roles or stereotypes are reversed. In this instance, he was standing outside a Planta Queen in Chicago, waiting for someone to open the door for him.

Eventually, two women, White, passed him by. He saw his golden opportunity and addressed them directly, although they ignored him at first.

“Yo, it’s Black History Month,” Forever said. “I need one of you young ladies to open the door for me.“

One of the Illinois women turned around and saw Forever in the eyes, not fully believing what she had just heard. They started laughing and talking to each other, and while they fully intended to walk away, Forever decided to double down.

“Everybody’s gonna see this,” he said. “If you don’t do it, they’re gonna get on you. You better come and open the door. Trust me.”

The “ladies,” probably fearing potential Internet backlash, decided to walk toward the Planta Queen and actually open the door for Forever. As one of them was opening the door, Forever told them, “Good girls. Good girls. We love that.”

Finally, after requesting them to do so, the women, smiling, told Forever, “Happy Black History Month.” He responded, “You’re welcome.”

Clip Goes Viral, Sparks Debate

The Illinois man’s clip went viral, garnering close to 400,000 likes and almost 8,000 comments. Many found it hilarious, celebrating Forever’s effort to deliver his message.

“I’m not using my Black privilege enough,” one user said. Another one commented, “The fear of social media is the beginning of wisdom.” A third one added, “They only care because others are watching.”

Others, although a small percentage, called Forever out for being “rude” to the women.

“I wouldn’t have come back i would have kept walking. Open your own door,” one user wrote. Another one said, “You’ll never catch me holding a door for a man, period.” A third one commented. “Notice how you didn’t try to pull that [expletive] with a man.”

All in all, the “ladies” appeared to have a good sense of humor, as they willingly engaged with the Illinois man and were not dismissive. They certainly saved themselves a full-on TikTok investigation while at it.
