A video set to the tune of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” has gone viral on Reddit. In the video, protestors gathered in Chicago, Illinois take turns smashing a Trump piñata. While the theme is obvious, people couldn’t help but ask one question: Will Trump go down in history as the most hated president in America? When it comes to the answer, Reddit viewers did not disappoint.
One person chimed in, saying it would be an “excellent idea for a fundraiser.” With the sheer number of people willing to take a whack at the piñata president, it would surely raise some funds. Another encouraged caution, saying, “Be careful not to break it. That piñata is surely full of s*** if it’s remotely close to the real thing.”
Fans of the video even shared personal anecdotes in the comments. “One of my favorite parts of my recent trip to Chicago was seeing a dog stop to pee on Trump Tower,” one Reddit user reminisced. Another expressed their love for the Windy City, saying, “I love Chicago, and I appreciate the protests. Sometimes, chaos is justice. The protest was loud, symbolic, and defiant. At one point, protestors dragged out a plastic Trump effigy and whipped it in the middle of the crowd, a raw display of anger at his policies.”
However, some Reddit users found humor in the situation. One joked, saying, “He is going to sign and order to ban piñatas.” The limit of bans has yet to be seen, but several thumbs-up implied it’s entirely possible. Another user commented, calling the piñata a “chunky orange chicken.” Among the comments, one brought a real-life question to life. “I’d be curious to know. We have polls that answer this and go far back into history. Is Donald Trump the most hated president? Beating them up in effigy is nothing new.”
