Orion Pictures has released the second official trailer for the upcoming Child’s Play remake starring Aubrey Plaza and Mark Hamill. You can check out the full trailer down below:
This second look shows off a lot more Chucky and the mayhem he’ll cause than the trailer released back in February. One big thing you’ll notice about the trailer is that Chucky has been revamped into something more akin to Amazon’s Alexa or Google’s home control devices. While it still has to be executed well in the film itself, this decision to modernize Chucky could be one of the best aspects of the upcoming Child’s Play remake.
Mark Hamill will provide the voice for Chucky and we got a bit of what we could expect at the end of the trailer. Despite his immense fame from playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, Hamill is also widely beloved as the voice of The Joker in countless Batman animated shows and Rocksteady’s Arkham video game series. So, needless to say, he has the serial killer voice down. Some fans still love Brad Dourif in the role but the general consensus for Hamill’s casting has been positive so far.
Child’s Play stars Aubrey Plaza, Mark Hamill, Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman, and Tim Matheson. Here’s a quick and fairly vague synopsis (via IMDB):
“A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of it’s more sinister nature.”
You can expect to see Child’s Play in theaters on June 21st, 2019.
