You can’t fix her

When it comes to unhinged girlfriends, there’s the ‘I can fix her’ type, and then there are the ‘don’t touch with a 10-foot pole’ ones. For one man in California, his ex definitely fits into the latter. Case in point, he takes his new date in a car he recently purchased to a local Mexican restaurant. However, during the romantic dinner, he hears some commotion outside and walks out with a plate of mariscos to see his ex smashing up his new car. Shockingly, he is as chill as can be.

“Oh that’s just my ex,” the man says calmly while his date looks on in shock as to what’s happening. “And…that’s normal?” she asks, to which he just mutters incoherently with food in his mouth, not even the least bit worried about the situation. “Insurance is going to pay for it,” he says. The two continue watching the ex-girlfriend destroy the car while munching away on their tasty shrimp dinner. “She needs to see a therapist,” the date comments, as she, too, starts to get used to the show. The clip ends with the ex-boyfriend taunting the vandal: “That’s it? That is all you can do?“

Staged or not, the internet found the whole incident hilarious, and Reddit had a few things to say about how calm the man was. “Bro is taunting them like it happens every friday lol,” laughed a top commenter. Another agreed, saying, “This dude knows that he’s getting to her even more by remaining that calm and continuing to enjoy his date.” Others speculated that he was egging her on purposely to get her to total the car. That way, insurance would give him a brand new car; no repairs needed. “When you got A1 insurance and know a great lawyer,” joked another user.

One thing’s for sure: she definitely won’t be relishing the destruction of his property when the cops show up. As one commenter puts it, “Once you break a $1,000 worth of stuff it’s usually a felony. If this is real, she’s definitely going to jail.” In a Snapchat post from the same Cali man, he actually shows his ex-girlfriend going to jail for trying to run him over. Now, whether this is the same ex smashing up his car isn’t clarified, but it’s fun to imagine that it is. The chill guy eventually moves to Japan to get away from his ex and problems, so hopefully, he’s living his best life there.
