Chloe Bailey is defending her right to be a woman who contains multitudes. In a recent Instagram Live, the 26-year-old opened up about the criticism she’s gotten when she tries to channel her seductive side.
During the live, a commenter wrote, “Her sexy act ain’t believable because she’s goofy and nerdy.”
Chloe challenged the commenter to think bigger and realize that the two descriptors are not mutually exclusive.
Why can’t I be both? It’s not an act, honey. But not everybody will have access to that. Women can be both. Women can be multi-faceted.
Lady in the streets but a freak in the sheets.

The songstress belted out the last part for emphasis, showing off her immense talent for just a moment. As it got to that point, people in the comments praised her for being true to herself, regardless of what others had to say about it.
Chloe Has Opened Up About Some of her Favorite Nerdy Activities
Chloe Bailey has opened up about a few of her favorite nerdy hobbies. Like many self-proclaimed nerds, she can’t limit herself to one activity that she gives 1000% to. Hearing her talk about these subjects proves just how passionate Chloe is about the things she’s interested in.
One of them is experimenting on the production and engineering side of music. When many people think of her, they think of the performance side. She touched on this when she spoke to Extra about her debut album, In Pieces.
I don’t want to carry this persona or facade that people think of who Chloe Bailey is. I’m just gonna be myself and I hope people accept it. I got to nerd out and produce and engineer myself and really experiment, so I hope people who listened enjoyed it.

Chloe also addressed the fact that people are critical of the many sides of her personality that she does share publicly. While it’s frustrating for her, part of growing up in the spotlight has been learning to tune out the chatter and focus on her inner voice.
I think self-love, and I’m still learning to embrace myself in all of its glory and I think, too, just ignoring what people have to say. I think when you are yourself and you give your all, there’s really nothing else you can say or do to people, whether or not they’re pleased. So, I think I just was fed up of keeping my voice silent, and I’m like here I am, take it or leave it.

Another hobby she really enjoys? Legos. In a recent NYLON interview, Chloe talked about being the only girl in her school Lego club.
It’s very therapeutic and calming. I was at Alicia Keys’ studio last year, and she had them all over her wall. I was like, ‘I love you even more and have never felt so seen.’ I don’t know if [Legos] are a thing with creative women — the act of building something from nothing and seeing it come to life, it’s so rewarding.

It’s refreshing to see celebrities embrace their inner nerd unapologetically. Her authenticity and comfort in her own skin is shining through more with each and every move she makes.
