Night Springs is upon us, and it looks like Christian Ward has been sucked into its dark world. The famed comic creator took to social media to reveal that he played a role in bringing Alan Wake II’s first expansion to life. Ward, currently in the middle of Batman: City of Madness for DC, is known for his unique art style and storytelling. His art tends to lean into the surreal with another layer overlapping the physical world. If you have played Alan Wake II, then you know that this style fits perfectly with the atmosphere and narrative of the Remedy game.
If you are unfamiliar with Christian Ward, he is an illustrator and writer based out of the UK. He has worked for some of the biggest names in comics and other media. This includes Marvel, DC Comics, Dark Horse, EPIC Games, and The Guardian. The multi-Eisner winner is likely most known for ODY-C, which he co-created with Matt Fraction. Many also know him for his Eisner-winning Invisible Kingdom he created alongside G Willow Wilson. However, you can find his trademark style on several acclaimed Marvel series. He worked on Black Bolt with Saladin Ahmed, as well as Jason Aaron’s Thor and Batman with James Tynion.

Christian Ward In Night Springs
This Night Springs expansion consists of three self-contained episodes. It shows three different ways that writer Alan Wake attempted to escape the Dark Place. As such, players will get to play as three different characters from the franchise. They include Rose the waitress, Sheriff Timothy Beaker, and Control’s protagonist Jesse Fayden. In the trailer for the expansion, Ward’s art is noticeable in Beaker’s chapter. However, it is likely players will find it throughout the game.
