You’d think that Karens would give the public a break over the holidays. That’s unfortunately not the case, however. Much like all the other Karens we’ve witnessed recently — from stubborn parking lot fiascos to racist customers to road rage incidents — another overly demanding middle-class woman has struck again. This time, the altercation occurred outside of a private neighbourhood in Atlanta, Georgia.
Essentially, Isaac Hayes III, 49, — a record producer and songwriter who happens to be the son of musician and actor Isaac Hayes, the voice behind Chef from South Park — was trying to enter his private residence on Christmas Eve, but was accosted by a drunk Karen. The viral incident was shared to Reddit earlier today.
The video clip opens from the perspective of the driver — Isaac Hayes III — who is approaching the security gate to his own gated community. Stood next to the entrance is the Karen in question. “Want to get in?” asks the Karen, who appears a little inebriated. “I live here.” responds Isaac Hayes III. “What? fires back the Karen. “I live here, ma’am.” replies the driver politely.
“Who are you?” asks the Karen nosily. In response, Hayes III replies, “I don’t need to tell you who I am.” The Karen continues with increasing intensity, “I’m on the board. You drive up here like a bat out of hell. You drive in. You drive out. F*** you! So ridiculous. We have dogs. We have people. And you don’t even care. So disrespectful.“
To this, Hayes III calmly responds with, “Okay.” and “Have a good evening.” The icing on the cake? The Karen then makes it clear that her tirade is racially motivated by ending the altercation with, “Want to be white, won’t you?“
With over 4.1k upvotes and 450 comments at the time of writing, it didn’t take long for the comments section to be flooded with reactions from across the internet.
Funnily enough, one of the most up-voted comments on the Reddit thread came in the form of a South Park gif of Eric Cartman saying his signature line: “Respect my authoritah!” In response to this, another commenter chimed in with, “This is even funnier considering the driver is Isaac Hayes III, the son of the voice of Chef“.
Elsewhere, another netizen added, “Why are Karen’s always on the board???“
A fourth commenter replied to this with, “They’re the only people who want a position like that.”
Interestingly, as mentioned above, Isaac Hayes III is a very successful music producer and entrepreneur who boasts 200k followers over on his Instagram. His father — Isaac Hayes — was a singer, songwriter, and activist, who was well-known as the voice actor behind Chef in the popular animated comedy show South Park. Sadly, Isaac Hayes passed away from a stroke in 2008 at the age of 65.
