The Chrono Cross remaster is real! Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 7th. Nintendo announced the remaster during their most recent Nintendo Direct.
Rumors about a Chrono Cross remaster have been circling for quite some time. The game was mentioned in a leak of the Nvidia GeForce Now database months ago. Additionally, when the JRPG Another Eden held a special Chrono Cross event, players were all but certain that meant a remaster was on the way. Fans of the game can finally breathe a sigh of relief and get ready to fall in love with the game all over again.
Fans of the classic RPG rejoice! Check out the full announcement below.
Updates in The Radical Dreamers Edition
The remaster includes a few updates to the original game. The first is the mention of a fully enhanced soundtrack. The second is the ability to turn off enemy encounters, so players can explore the world free of stress.
As part of the Radical Dreamers Edition, fans will be able to experience a full English translation of Radical Dreamers: a text-based adventure that connects Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Previously, the game had only been available on the Satellaview in Japan.
Forever Entertainment is the team behind the remaster. Square Enix partnered with the studio last year with plans to remaster multiple titles from their catalog. Forever Entertainment is no stranger to remakes. They worked on the Panzer Dragoon Remake with SEGA. Each remake aims to preserve the original’s gameplay and only enhance the graphics. That looks to be the case with the Chrono Cross remaster as well.
Fans of the game must be smiling ear-to-ear with this news. It’s a classic that more players will now get to experience. Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition releases on April 7th. Pre-orders are available now on the Nintendo eShop.
