ICE doesnโt stop, no matter what state you live in or which political party is in charge. Georgia, like many others, has seen its share of aggressive enforcement tactics and community fear. A recent incident caught on video serves as another grim reminder of the daily reality many immigrants face. If not for everyday people documenting these moments, countless individuals might disappear without a trace. In this case, fully masked agents detained 452 immigrants in a Hyundai plant, but one woman escaped in a wild and crazy way only seen in movies.
In a post shared to the RealPublickFreakouts Reddit thread, a stunning video clip can be seen of an immigrant who was working at the Ellabell, Georgia, Hyundai plant, which was targeted by ICE as they arrested almost 500 immigrant workers. The raid caused a stir between South Korea and the United States, but one woman’s harrowing plight was literally above all the drama, as she hid in the ceiling for hours to avoid capture.
In the video clip, a terrified woman is documenting her minutes and hours hiding from ICE in the ceiling of the plant. Eventually, she can escape and gets picked up by a friend, all while explaining the ordeal in Spanish. The incident, regardless of the spoken language, shows how much fear regular working people have to be in every day and night, as ICE and their rampage through the country grab and ship people to places unknown. Users went wild in the comments.
“And that pos who reported them thinks she’s the hero in this story. This is so heartbreaking and I can’t believe this is happening. I make calls, I protest and it’s obviously not enough. I feel helpless and embarrassed to be American”
“This is so diary of Anne Frank”
“Embarrassed to be American at this point.”
“Should really start calling it US citizens, it’s time for the US to stop claiming everything, and their identity is one good place to start.”
“Never let Republicans forget what they supported.”
New updates on the woman are currently unknown, and considering how lucky she was to escape capture the first time, I doubt she will be online anytime soon, and who can blame her?
