From the very beginning of his term, President Trump has been promising to lower the prices of goods, like food, for Americans. But with tariffs he’s imposed on imported goods, US businesses are paying the real cost. Small businesses, in particular. Now, a North Carolina man who voted for Trump is disappointed because Trump hasn’t followed through on any of his promises. And, surprise: Due to tariffs, this man is losing his family’s business and doesn’t know where to turn.

Posted by TikToker Jose Can You See, Wilson Jones and his brother are sixth-generation lumbermen and the owners of Mackey’s Ferry Sawmill in North Carolina. They voted for President Trump every time he ran. Now, their business is coming to an end, and the reason for the collapse is Trump’s tariffs. These tariffs made a promise to business owners that manufacturing jobs would come “roaring” back to America. It didn’t.

Jose said he has a very important question he would like to ask business owners like Wilson Jones. That question is this: “Knowing what you know now, would you still vote for Donald Trump again?”

An interviewer actually asked Wilson this exact question. He answered, “There are some things I regret about voting for President Trump, yes. 100%,” but then backpedaled and argued all presidents make promises. When support for Trump aligns with anti-social behavior, like prejudice against skin color, gender, and sexuality, Wilson and many others continued to vote for him, anyway.

The boomer doesn’t seem to care. Even knowing what he knows, Wilson stated, “Given the two people running, regardless of what they said on the campaign trail, I would have voted for President Trump here,” whether it affected his business or not. He even stupidly adds, “Outside of not voting, I don’t think I had a choice to vote in any other direction.”

It’s a level of irresponsibility in Wilson’s case, given that his business also employs others. As one person put it, “Ruined his life and 50 of his employee’s lives for racism and sexism.” How is that fair to anyone who loses their job because of their boss’s poor political sense? Why should they be punished?

“As a black woman, American’s rejection of Kamala hit hard. I see now that there’s no way to get accepted by a lot of people. This guy would rather lose his livelihood than vote for a black female,” another argued. If you’re willing to vote against your own interest, it’s hard to think otherwise.
