Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise, spicing things up in the era of the Cold War. Not only does it see the return of iconic characters like Alex Mason and Frank Woods, but the return of both Multiplayer and Zombies. These two modes have seen love from all who play the game, featuring tight gunplay and all the easter eggs you can find throughout the new map Die Maschine. If you haven’t had the chance to play the latest edition of Zombies, you’re in luck. Starting on January 14, you can try out the Zombies game mode and Die Maschine for free until January 21. Now’s the best time to get in and slay zombies alongside your friends!
The Zombies free week for Black Ops Cold War includes three different modes to try out. On one hand, you have the standard Die Maschine map on offer, including plenty of secrets and interesting weapons to find and use. You also have the Zombies Onslaught mode, exclusive to PlayStation users. On the other hand, the free week will see the introduction of Cranked Zombies. For my fellow fans of the underappreciated Ghosts, this one’s a nostalgia trip. This works similar to Die Maschine, only you’re given a timer off the start of the match. When this timer reaches zero, you’ll explode. In order to keep yourself alive, you’ll have to kill zombies and gain additional time on your clock. It’s a fun, fast-paced version of the standard offering, one I’m personally excited to try!
Aside from the Zombies free week, Black Ops Cold War is getting a fresh map for the Fireteam: Dirty Bomb mode known as Sanatorium. This hilly area should provide some great shooting positions, along with great places to detonate dirty bombs. There’s also going to be a new Dropkick mode, additional bundles, and much more!
