Britain based studio Codemasters is a developer with a pedigree of well-designed driving games. These include the Formula 1, Dirt and Grid games, all of which are incredibly popular and well-liked. While all of these games have multiplayer, the focus isn’t necessarily on multiplayer. The last game with as strong a focus on multiplayer was Drive Club. As of March this year, the servers will be shut down. This is why their most recent announcement made via their career page is quite exciting.
We're hiring several major positions – including a Senior Game Designer – for an ambitious new project based in our Southam HQ 🤔

What this said:
This careers page, promoted by the Codemasters twitter account, stated:
“Codemasters are thrilled to announce we are embarking on a whole new IP which will deliver exceptional multiplayer experiences to new game audiences the world over. We are currently prototyping the creation of a brand-new title which is fully aligned with our core driving game expertise and represents an entirely new dimension within our illustrious portfolio.”
This suggests a new multiplayer IP is in the works but presumably not hugely far along in production. This could be indicated as no official announcement of the new project has been made, and they’re now “hiring several major positions.” These positions include Senior graphics programmers, Senior game designer, and senior systems programmer
What this IP could be:
While nothing is official yet, the focus on multiplayer from the get-go is interesting. A focus on multiplayer first could suggest something fairly big such as The Crew or Forza Horizon.
Furthermore, the careers page specified that the listing would require cross-platform experience. All of this information tied together could point at a large cross-platform multiplayer, new IP. Not only this, but their twitter account has announced it as ambitious and based out of the Southam HQ.
There’s no more information on this position and game as of yet, but following The Nerd Stash is an excellent way to keep up to date with gaming news, reviews, and opinion pieces in the future.
