Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert is now weighing in on a line of questioning that was raised during former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deposition that has left many people confused on why it mattered.
After sitting for six hours before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday, Clinton told reporters she did her “very best” to answer every question based on what she knew. Clinton said she “never met” Jeffrey Epstein, had no “connection or communication” with him, and only knew Ghislaine Maxwell “casually as an acquaintance.” She added that she never visited Epstein’s island, homes, or offices, stressing that those denials were placed “on the record numerous times” throughout the questioning.
However, she said the line of questioning toward the end of the deposition became “quite unusual,” revealing that she was asked about UFOs and the conspiracy theory known as Pizzagate. According to the BBC, “Pizzagate” refers to a debunked internet conspiracy theory that falsely claimed a child trafficking ring involving top Democratic figures was being run out of a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant. The theory stemmed from misinterpreted emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta released in 2016.
‘They All Kind of Tie Together’
During a subsequent interview on NewsNation, Boebert was pressed by host Chris Cuomo on how those topics were relevant to a deposition focused on Epstein and trafficking survivors. Boebert responded that the topics arose from material within the Epstein files, saying they opened up “a whole trove of questions” investigators could pursue.
“There are things within the Epstein file that lead to these questions,” Boebert said. “You know, Hillary Clinton being connected so tightly with John Podesta, who’s connected with Anthony Weiner, and all of these things, they all kind of tie together, especially when you’re talking about women who are being trafficked. So this isn’t to highlight some big, vast conspiracy about a pizza parlor.”
Clinton, however, did not see it that way and told reporters that Pizzagate was “one of the most vile, bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the internet.”
Netizens reacting on TikTok appeared divided, with some asking how “Hillary would know why Epstein was talking about UFOs?” in the first place, while others believed that “everything is connected” and that “they all know and participate in each others sins!”
