While some may shy away from discussing their transition journey, a Colorado trans woman has chosen to be a beacon of light, sharing her transitioning journey. Four years after a successful transition, she reflected on her growth, showing candid, vulnerable moments.

The trans woman emotionally opened up about her experience in a lengthy Instagram Reel. The clip was edited to show two versions of her. One part was from four years ago, capturing her as a man before the transition, while the present clip showed her current appearance as a woman.

“My name is Bret Christianson,” introduced the old video with the present clip replying, “My name is Bree Christianson.” The former version continued, “The past three days have been horrible,” the new version responded, “The past four years have made me want to live again.”

The old Christianson expressed that he believed he didn’t have gender dysphoria because he couldn’t relate to the gender stories online. However, the newer self clarified that he had gender dysphoria but failed to see it.

“You were so used to it that it felt normal,” Christianson disclosed to her old self. “How were you supposed to recognize how bad you felt until you knew how good you could feel?”

When the old Christianson complained about how he felt like living a different life, the new version consoled him with proof that he was happier. Bree, in the new clip, commented on her happiness, saying, “This sad boy thing is not you; this is you, sunshine.” On cue, several pictures of Christianson as a woman smiling popped up across the video.

Further into the clip, the Colorado resident revealed he initially thought his identity was a kink. “For the longest time, I just assumed that this was just a kink. Just a fetish,” the former Christianson revealed. However, her present self explained the reasoning, saying her past self thought of womanhood from one perspective. She added that his views were shaped by misogyny and his inability to differentiate “gender” from “sex.”

“Your ideas of women were so deeply sexist you couldn’t allow yourself to explore how being me would work. Your views were harmful and you had to learn.”

The new Christianson appreciated her past self for having the courage to embrace her identity. Before the clip ended, the lady gushed about how she was glad she made the video to encourage others on their transition journey.
