A young Colorado woman may not know what it feels like to be old, but she had a great mentor to look up to. The woman, named Aislinn, recently shared a video of her 87-year-old grandmother, and it didn’t disappoint. In the clip, the elderly woman spoke her mind with passion and enthusiasm, and dished all of her incredible secrets to feeling young, despite her age. Of course, the internet was left adoring the sweet and feisty grandma.
In a TikTok video that earned more than 2.3 million likes within the first two days after it was posted, Aislinn’s grandmother has stolen the show. The Colorado woman posted the video and claimed in the caption of the post that “Everyone needs to hear this. My grandma shares how to find magic and joy in aging.”
In the video, the grandmother is seen sitting a dinner table with a plate in front of her and a glass of wine at her side. She seems to have just finished her meal as she looks off to the side, telling someone off-camera exactly how she feels about getting older, and how she’s turned it into something to be proud of.
Colorado Woman’s Grandmother Takes Over TikTok With Impassioned Speech About Aging
“I’m 87 years old. I don’t feel 87, I don’t think 87. What old age is supposed to be is no longer,” the grandmother declared. “I feel and think like I’m still 60, sometimes 50, and sometimes 22.”
The grandmother went on to share her advice for living a long and healthy life, and it was clear that she was speaking from experience and wisdom.
“The most important thing as you get older, you have to stay involved. You have to use your brain, interacting with other people, which is one of the most important things. Do I have things wrong with me? Of course I do. So what? Everybody’s got stuff wrong. I’m lucky. I get up every morning, I know who I am, I know where I am, and I have a purpose,” she continued.
She even got a bit sassy, telling everyone that they needed to be able to hold conversations with those younger than them, as well as focus on all aspects of their health.
“Be involved with the world, be aware, be able to have conversations with younger people. Get up and move your f—ing body. Take care of yourself. Mentally, physically, emotionally. Be part of the world,” she concluded her speech.
TikTok instantly fell in love with the 87-year-old woman, and it was easy to see why her granddaughter wanted to share the video on social media.
“Not to be dramatic, but I’d die for her,” one person commented.
“I do neuropsych assessment for dementia and Alzheimerโs. Sheโs right. She is 100% correct. Aging is a mindset,” said another.
“I’ve seen my future and it’s bright,” another joked.
“Don’t be stuck in your own generation, learn from the older generation and inspire the younger generation,” a fourth comment read.
This Colorado woman’s grandmother seems to have it all figured out, and it’s obvious that she’s a true inspiration to her family.
