2020 is the year of chaos and strategy. Today, publisher Kalypso Media and developers Yippee! Entertainment, Raylight Games and Torus Games announced that Commandos 2 & Praetorians: HD Remaster Double Pack is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The double pack contains remasters of both titles, which are available individually on the PlayStation and Microsoft stores. The remastered versions of Commandos 2 & Praetorians: HD offer full high-definition improvements of the original titles. These HD remasters add revamped tutorials and campaign missions, controller support, as well as an HD version of Praetorians‘ multiplayer mode.
Earlier this year, Commandos 2 and Praetorians HD Remastered launched on PC via Steam and the Kalypso Store. The Nintendo Switch version of Commandos 2 HD Remastered is scheduled to release later this year. Commandos 2 & Praetorians: HD Remaster Double Pack can be purchased on the Microsoft and PlayStation stores for $39.99.
The developer descriptions for the Commandos 2 and Praetorians remasters read as follows:
In Commandos 2 – HD Remaster, take control of an elite group of Allied commandos who must venture deep into enemy territory and utilize their combined expertise to complete a series of progressively demanding missions. In this World War II genre-defining classic, explore interactive environments and use unique skill sets to complete missions against seemingly impossible odds.
In Praetorians – HD Remaster, relive the celebrated real-time strategy classic in high definition. Set amidst the political machinations of an emerging Roman Empire, prove a legionnaire’s worth on the battlefields of Egypt, the combat theaters of Gaul, and the heart of the Empire itself in Italy, in the crusade to become Emperor. Learn to combine units and exploit enemy weaknesses to emerge victorious.
The Commandos 2 & Praetorians: HD Remaster Double Pack is available now on the PlayStation and Microsoft stores. If you’re still feeling an RTS game here and there, I have a few to suggest. Northgard, Supreme Commander 2, and Halo Wars 2 are all excellent games for the genre. If you want something other than RTS though, Adam’s review of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 +2 may be a solid read.
