Common sense is a thing many people lack, and there’s no one better to illustrate it than this oblivious Bucks County, Pennsylvania driver. A lot of people know that whenever a school bus’s lights are flashing, that means it is a clear sign to stop, even if the sign isn’t out yet. However, this person is acting confused after receiving a $300 ticket for failing to stop for the school bus, despite the vehicle clearly indicating it was time for other drivers to slow down and let the kids get out.
While the footage is from October 2025, it has become news because one of the drivers in the video, who is also the OP, received a $300 ticket this morning.
According to them, they were driving normally on the road (the one in the white vehicle) when they passed a school bus that didn’t have the stop sign out yet. However, the lights of the bus were already on, and everyone knows that when that happens, it is a clear sign to slow down to let the kids get out.
If you take a look at the footage, you can see not one, but three cars failing to stop for the bus. The OP argues that they weren’t guilty, as the stop sign wasn’t out. Still, you can see that the lights were flashing.
However, the OP wasn’t the only one at fault. You can also see in the footage that the last vehicle committed the worst infraction, as it clearly sped up even after the bus took the stop sign out. We imagine that the driver got an even bigger fine, or at least we hope so, because they clearly ignored the law.
In any case, this situation sparked a debate on the original post, with a few on the OP’s side, claiming the school bus pulled out the sign the moment they drove past. In contrast, others claimed the OP is guilty because the lights were the only indication they needed to pull over.
“If you saw the amber lights on the bus flashing before it stopped, you should have been prepared to stop,” said one user.
“We both know the lights were flashing red. Pay your 300 bucks and be a better person,” commented another person.
In the end, we also agree that this person did something wrong. Anyone with some common sense would stop at the sight of a school bus with flashing lights. It doesn’t matter if the stop sign is out or not.
