Jasmine Crockett wants the Trump administration to face more scrutiny. The congresswoman recently shared her thoughts on how Americans affected by the recent government shakeups can fight back.
Since the creation of the DOGE Department upon entering office, Donald Trump, in partnership with billionaire Elon Musk, has made sweeping rounds of cuts to various federal agencies. This has resulted in numerous job terminations across essential agencies like the FAA, sparking concern nationwide. Speaking to MSNBC, Crockett likened the current situation to the COVID-19 pandemic. She believes the only solution is a “daily briefing” of the facts from the president and his team. Explaining her perspective, the Democratic representative said:
“I think there’s things that we can do. We can just maybe decided on what days we’re going to have transportation, and maybe we can pull on [former] Secretary Buttigieg to come through and say, ‘This is the day that I will pick up and I will talk about what’s happening at FAA.'”
As part of her “acts of resistance,” as she calls it, Crockett also suggested “field hearings” to explain how the budget cuts benefit rural Americans. The reason behind her demand for such intense transparency from Trump—accusations of corruption and theft. The Texas Rep alleged:
“The only mission Donald Trump has is making sure that he can line his pockets, line Elon’s pockets and any other billionaire all at our expense.”
Jasmine Crockett Warns About Donald Trump Not Saving Money
The congresswoman argued that the governmental budget cuts would affect everyone, not just DEI recipients, as proposed by Trump. Crockett further claimed that the DOGE department is a front for the president and tech mogul to get richer.
“This is nothing more than a money grab. He’s not out there trying to save money for the American people. That’s not what he’s doing. He’s lining his pockets.”
Crockett reminisced on the Joe Biden administration, crediting them for giving citizens “broadband access” to jobs and healthcare. The opposite, she believes, is what is happening under Trump.
“The reality is right now they’re trying to cut SNAP benefits,” the 43-year-old explained. “You know who uses more SNAP benefits more than anybody else? It’s rural America; it’s not urban.”
While addressing the budget freezes in USAID, Crockett demanded that health experts educate citizens about the possibility of an HIV/AIDS pandemic. She also accused Trump of using the USAID cuts to cause outrage among ignorant citizens. Urging people to take charge, Rep. Crockett declared, “We have a story for every single person who’s not a billionaire in this country, and it’s time for us to tell it.“
Crockett’s warnings don’t seem far-fetched. Several citizens nationwide have been affected by the budget cuts. Even Trump supporters are losing their jobs. However, the commander-in-chief insists it is all for America’s best. Time will tell is Trump is right or wrong.
