To celebrate the upcoming release of Action RPG Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, BANDAI NAMCO has announced at the Gamescom 2019 an Original Costume Design Contest that will see fans submitting costume designs that may potentially be featured in the game.
Submissions will be open from August 19, 2019 until September 6, 2019, on the official website here. They will then be judged by the Sword Art Online video game development team.
The top three designs in each of the four submitting territories will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2019. After that, the official webpage will open up for fan votes on September 14, 2019.
On Sunday, October 6, 2019 one winner will be announced for each territory, and the designs will be featured in the game as wearable outfits for the Kirito and Alice characters.
Together with the costume design contest, at the Gamescom 2019 BANDAI NAMCO also showcased a new trailer for the game, revealing new gameplay scenes based on the Sword Art Online: Alicization arc of the manga and introducing Medina Orthinanos, the new addition to the saga.
Voiced by Miho Okasaki, Medina is the daughter of the ninth generation head of the Orthinanos family, which in the game is a second class noble family.
Normally characterised by a calm personality, Medina shows her true strength only in battle. Her purpose is to clear the dishonor staining her family name by becoming stronger and making a name for herself on the battlefield.
In addition to the traditional Sword Art Online: Alicization storyline, BANDAI NAMCO said the game will feature a Eugeo survival route previously not included in the manga or anime. This will explore the story of Eugeo when he was not with Kirito during the Alicization events.
