This year hasn’t gotten off to a good start with what happened recently in Minnesota, and now violence has been on the minds of many people, fearing for their safety. However, the last place you’d expect to encounter a life-threatening situation would be delivering someone some Taco Bell. That said, one DoorDash driver in southwest Florida encountered quite the vicious customer when they realized said customer was actually a petty scammer, who was very determined to get their order.
Upon arrival at the customer’s home and stepping out of the car, the Florida DoorDash driver had their delivery cancelled. Even so, the customer yelled to bring them their cancelled order that they “paid for,” to which the driver replied, “yeah right scammer try harder.” Apparently, the same customer had 20 DoorDashers pick up the same order before likely attempting to cancel it, according to the Taco Bell employee preparing the deliveries. Infuriated that this particular driver didn’t follow through with their scam, the customer sent a frightening text to the DoorDasher.
“I’m going to shoot your face off,” they exclaimed, finishing their threat with a curse word. The driver, rather unfazed by the threat, responded with “Okay.” They posted their story and a screenshot of the short and concerning dialogue to r/doordash_drivers with the casual and sarcastic title of “Smh 🤦🏻♂️.” However, several hundred users in the comment section felt like he should have taken the threat a little more seriously.
“Also, make a police report. Mark as unsafe delivery too. Surprised they didn’t get deactivated for the language,” said a top commenter. “Get em reported, then report it to the police. Thats a legit threat,” agreed another. “What is with scammers threatening physical violence? Nothing is more infuriating to me,” remarked a third. “Ig by the 21st failed attempt of getting free tacos they were getting violently hangry,” joked a fourth.
Based on how OP responded to the comments, they likely didn’t call the police, as they weren’t bothered, even with a shocking threat on their life. “I was totally unfazed by his threats by the way this Florida too so we all got guns down here,” they laughed, revealing they carry a Glock in their car just in case. For those not from the driver’s area, truly, it’s hard to imagine a world where life-threatening statements and guns are a norm while delivering tacos.
