There are so many terrifying things that can happen to a person in a toxic relationship that it’s genuinely difficult to think of them all and be prepared. Personally, one of the worst things that a person can do in a relationship is not accept when it is over. By this, I mean a person who simply cannot fathom the idea of not being with the person they are abusing anymore. One California university student met with this horrible reality after breaking up with his boyfriend via text message. It’s the now ex-boyfriend’s actions that followed the text that were really scary, and had to involve campus security.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @brendan.jazmines, and follows Brendan, a college student at Loyola Marymount University in California. Many of his videos feature his daily activities, which include hanging out with friends and going to school. In one particular video, Brendan instead posts about sending his incredibly toxic boyfriend a text, letting him know that he’s breaking up with him. I already knew things must have been bad if he only felt safe breaking up with his boyfriend via a text message.
Sure enough, the boyfriend didn’t take it very well and instead of being normal about it, decided to try and talk things out on campus. Fortunately, Brendan wasn’t at his dorm room when the ex arrived, which likely saved him in various ways. Shortly after arriving, he was escorted off the grounds by campus security. One of the top comments focuses on this, saying, “He couldn’t handle loosing a baddie 😓💔.” The above video really follows up on the events, which have proven to be incredibly traumatic for Brendan as he shows his dry eyes from being unable to sleep.
The update provides details on what happened, also showing that Brendan is currently safe from the situation. Shortly after Brendan sent the text message, he went to class for a few hours, resulting in him not answering the various phone calls and texts from his ex. Once class ended, he met up with some friends to go to a meeting, only to be notified by his roommate that his ex had stopped by his dorm room. To make things worse, the ex-boyfriend lives nearly two hours away from the school, meaning that he must have read the message and immediately headed over.
Fortunately, Brendan’s friends were being incredibly supportive and had joined him in going to campus security to find a way to escort his ex off campus. After a few more hours of deliberations, the campus security was finally able to remove Brendan’s ex, paving the way for a safe return to his dorm. All in all, I hope that Brendan never needs to deal with this situation again and that the staff at Loyola Marymount University continue to do a great job.
