Many women across the United States have likely been victims of some kind of harassment at one point in their lives. Despite it being preventable, it seems to be inevitable that a woman be approached by someone she has no interest in speaking with. In Dallas, Texas, a woman waiting for the train needed to use a rather unconventional method of warding off a few men who decided to bother her.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account finni.haynes, also known as Finnigan, and features her in what appears to be a train station of some kind in Dallas, Texas. Things immediately start off strong as she explains how three different men wouldn’t stop following her after she explicitly asked them not to. However, instead of waiting for the men to leave, Finnigan took things a step further and decided to pull out a bottle of pepper spray and a used female sanitary product.
To really paint the picture, she was also allegedly singing Disease by Lady Gaga until finally, the men decided to walk away. The video seems to have begun recording shortly after this incident, because she does turn the camera to face the different men as they were walking away.
Various commentators jumped into the replies to express their concern for her safety, with some of the top comments saying, “The things we have to do to keep our peace from men..” and “Survival instincts of a lion 😂.” The very top comment includes a meme of a person holding a bottle of pepper spray and a female sanitary product with the caption, “I’m glad you’re safe 💓.”
Just before the video ends, she grabs the camera and asks the audience if she will really have to keep the used product in her hand on her way home just to feel safe against other men who might approach her. In follow-up videos about the incident, she shows just how close some of these men decided to get after she finished her previous video.
Finnigan also made another follow-up video showing that she did end up getting home safe, and contemplates calling DART, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit, to report what happened. She also acknowledges that this particular scenario happens to women frequently, and contemplates ways she might be able to assist. DART has not commented on the situation on any of its public social media not have they acknowledged it.
