The last thing you’d expect from a person delivering your groceries would be a hug and a kiss. And that’s certainly not what California resident Sabrina Banks was expecting when a Walmart worker dropped off her order while she was at a friend’s house. “It was almost like he had control over me,” she told CBS Sacramento. After dropping off her grocery bags, the man reached over, grabbed her arm, and pulled her in for a lip-to-lip kiss. “I should have said stop, this is making me uncomfortable, but I just didn’t know what to do, and I froze,” the victim recalled.
Walmart Condemned and Fired the Driver

Walmart has since responded to what happened, telling CBS that it “takes customer trust seriously” and that “this type of behavior by independent contractors violates the Spark Driver platform Terms of Use.” Management has since fired the driver, but perhaps more should have been done, such as reporting the incident to the authorities. Still, the poor woman has been scared by the Walmart driver’s actions and probably will think twice whenever meeting anyone at the front door for a delivery.
Fortunately, many online users were quite understanding of what happened to the victim and how she reacted to the Walmart driver’s nonconsensual affection. “That poor woman, she sounds so guilty for freezing up. I hope she gets some therapy or something to assure her she did nothing wrong,” remarks a sympathetic Reddit user. Other commenters chime in, assuming that the woman’s response might be connected to abuse or trauma from her past. “This would be my reaction, and I’m also an abuse survivor,” states one Redditor. “As you point out, it’s a reflex. Her freeze response is surely tied to her childhood.”
Bizarrely enough, a representative of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office stated that “maybe it’s a cultural thing” with regards to how the Walmart driver forced himself on the customer. Cultural or not, what the man did is neither innocent nor acceptable. Hopefully, he’ll face some sort of sexual battery charges, as he rightfully deserves. As one user puts it, the officer should “assume there’s a baseline of males of all cultures who are creeps or worse.”
