Amazon has signed Critical Role for a major movie and TV deal, including the greenlight for its next series, Mighty Nein. The deal includes an overall TV and first-look film contract for the Dungeons and Dragons group. This comes off the streamer’s show with the group, The Legend of Vox Machina, becoming a huge hit in its growing roster of original series.
Critical Role will see Amazon take on its 2018-2021 campaign, The Mighty Nein. The story followed a group of criminals turning into heroes as they try to stop a kingdom from crumbling from an arcane artifact getting into the wrong hands. Production will begin soon, but no release date has been listed.
Upon signing the deal with Amazon, Critical Role will be producing its shows and movies for the platform under its label, Metapigeon. The first glimpse at this comes from a teaser for Mighty Nein, which can be viewed below:

The D&D group is comprised of major voice acting talent, largely known in the video game industry for their acting credits in blockbuster games from Horizon Forbidden West to The Last of Us series. It features Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us Part I and Part II), Taliesin Jaffe (Horizon Forbidden West), Liam O’Brien (Death Stranding), Marisha Ray (Persona 3), Sam Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Travis Willingham (Overwatch 2). They gathered in 2012 for private sessions before making a show out of it.
Mighty Nein will be executive produced by Critical Role members, Amazon Studios, and Titmouse. It is executive produced by Tasha Huo, Riegel, Willingham, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina.
You can currently watch The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime Video. It is currently running its second season, with the last batch of episodes being released on February 10.
