One sunny day in Shark Valley in the Everglades, in Florida, was kicked off by a rather angered altercation by none other than two of Florida’s most notable folks: reptiles. Sadly, not all reptilians get along well, and a meeting between a crocodile and an alligator quickly turns into a disagreement in the middle of the bicycle parking lot.
The video was posted to a Reddit thread by a user named Volkcan, and the heated battle supposedly took place on March 19. The person who filmed the incident was lucky enough to capture a biting match between a crocodile and an alligator right in front of them and two other bikers. Based on the video below, it appears the crocodile, or the one with longer legs between the two, is the victor compared to a rather humiliated alligator.
After several biting exchanges (which thankfully weren’t enough to draw blood or bite off some limbs), the crocodile managed to drive the alligator away back to the water. Surprisingly, the croc wasn’t petty enough to quip, “See you later, alligator,” after making the alligator retreat, but the latter will not be seeing the crocodile in a while.
Thankfully, none of the human bystanders (or is it busybodies?) were harmed during the incident.
Among the top comments in the thread pertained to how American reptiles don’t seem to get along with each other, which we’ll take as an allusion to the current political systems in the United States. As expected, some rather creative Redditors likened the situations to the two-party system, with highly- upvoted comments such as these taking center stage:
“Some are Reptilicans and some are Crococrats. It’s just cold-blooded politics,” as explained by Redditor DramaLlamaQueen23
“Thanks, Crocobama,” replied Redditor barryhakker
Who Started It?
Regardless of who you think is which in the political symbolism, crocodiles appear to be the bigger menaces in Florida or just about anywhere. Crocodiles are seen as bigger aggressors than alligators, the latter of which usually only want to sunbathe in Florida. Certain Floridians have even likened crocodiles to the “Karens of the swamps.”
Alligators, however, are more numerous in Florida than crocodiles, with some chance encounters even happening in suburban bathrooms. Some alligators as large as seven feet long can find their way into homes.
