The time for survival horror games is nigh, and one of the most atmospheric ones is just right around the corner. Cronos: The New Dawn is set to launch on September 5, and to build up hype for it, Bloober Team has unveiled a new trailer showcasing its gory gameplay alongside the atmospheric horror the studio is known for. While the gameplay systems look terrific and combat feels snappy, the highlight is the setting, which is absolutely terrifying yet alluring for those who enjoy a proper survival horror experience.

Cronow: The New Dawn Unveils a 9-Minute Gameplay Showcase During Gamescom 2025

Cronos: The New Dawn | Into The Factory

As expected from the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, Cronos: The New Dawn looks like yet another superb atmospheric survival horror ride. During Gamescom 2025, Bloober Team gave us a gameplay trailer titled, Into the Factory, which is the epicenter of the plague that attacked all humans. In it, we can see the game director, Wojciech Piejko, take us through the narrow and perilous halls of the factory as horrifying creatures appear.

While we get to see many survival horror staples, such as inventory management and looting, the trailer focuses on new systems, like “Merging.” This mechanic allows enemies to merge with dead bodies to become stronger. When it comes to survival horror games, this is one of the most unique additions we’ve seen in recent memory, as it adds another layer of difficulty to your playthrough where split-second decisions are key to staying alive. Yet, there are ways to prevent the “Merging” from happening.

Director Piejko showed how some of the weapons worked, especially their secondary firing mode, like the handgun, which you can charge for a more powerful shot, and the shotgun that increases its spread when fully charged. All of these things will allow you to prevent foes from becoming a dangerous amalgam and add to the tension of using the right tool for the job whenever the situation demands it.

Yet, the biggest highlight of the trailer was the atmosphere, which continues to prove that Bloober Team is one of the best studios when it comes to delivering terrifying yet immersive survival horror experiences. These nine minutes were enough to convince me and countless players that Cronos: The New Dawn will be a must-play for fans of the genre, and even for those who want a modern horror game. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long now because we’re only a few weeks away from experiencing this horrifying yet thrilling adventure.
