As if cops didn’t already give people in America reason enough to be wary of their presence, a police officer in Indiana and his wife are adding fuel to the fire by being charged with two counts of felony child neglect.
On Jan. 19, police officers responded to a call in Logansport. The report? A young girl was standing outside holding a sign that read: “I want to stab and Kill my brother — I even take an antipsychotic — If you need to give pity — then give it to the victims.“ The temperature that day, according to AccuWeather, was only as high as 25-degrees Fahrenheit and as low as 5-degrees.
According to WTHR, body cam footage recorded the witness saying to Officer Cody Scott and his supervisor, the police officers that responded to the call, “This baby is standing out here in the freezing cold with a sign.”
In a twisted turn of events, the “baby” was none other than Officer Scott’s own six-year-old daughter. She was being punished for pouting after being told she couldn’t wear lip gloss, according to Kylie Scott, the girl’s mother.
Officer Cody Scott attempted to justify his cruel punishment. His six-year-old daughter gets 10 minutes to warm up inside before getting sent back outside for another 30 minutes. It should be noted people can experience frostbite within 30 minutes of being exposed to temperatures below 5-degrees Fahrenheit.
Unfortunately, this is only one of three known incidences involving Cody and Kylie Scott’s daughter. According to an ISP investigator from Howard County Department of Child Services, the young girl had to wear a sign as punishment multiple times.
One sign was worn while she was at Walmart and it read, “I lie to hurt other people.”
Another time a sign was worn to school, “I pee on everything and cover it up like a cat.“
According to Fox59, Cody was on paid leave until March 12, when his employment status was changed to unpaid leave. A jury is set to convene on Sept. 22, 2025. Anything less than Cody Scott losing his job would be a miscarriage of justice.
