A few days ago, we covered the recent teasers being given from the Crysis Twitter account and CRYENGINE showcase video. We believed that it would be a remaster of the original Crysis, but at the time it was still considered a rumor. Today, we’re happy to announce that rumor is true. Crytek has announced that Crysis Remastered, a remaster of the hit first-person shooter, is coming to PC, PS4,
This announcement comes 13 years following the game’s original release. Set on the fictional Lingshan Islands in 2020 (convenient timing), the game follows the story of Raptor Team. They’ve been sent in to extract scientists from the North Korean occupied islands, and it’s up to them to get them out. They’re equipped with Nanosuits, exoskeletons that provide immense powers and enhance their regular human abilities. Be careful though, as the Lingshan Islands are hiding a terrible danger which could change the face of mankind.
Crysis Remastered looks to improve upon this great game, which was already praised for its tactical gameplay and visuals for its time. There will be huge graphical improvements and higher quality textures, bringing it more in line with 2020’s graphical standards. Not only that, but the game will feature the recently hyped up ray tracing. There’s going to be a lot going for this game, and many are excited to get their hands on it. Especially those owning a Nintendo Switch, as it’s the first time owners of that platform can play Crysis. The port is being developed by Saber Interactive, who also ported The Witcher 3 to the Switch.
Crysis Remastered currently has no planned release date. We’ll keep you updated when that changes. Really exciting news for fans of the previous games in the series, including myself.
