Cullen Bunn is bringing his talents to Storm King Comics’ Dark & Twisted Imprint for Long Haul. The chilling new graphic novel sees the Uncanny X-Men writer team up with horror icons Sandy King and her husband John Carpenter. It also reunites Bunn with fellow The Heathens writer Heath Amodio. The upcoming graphic novel, which follows a story of revenge on the open road, is the latest in Bunn’s recent foray into darker and more twisted projects.

Long Haul comes from Sandy King’s publishing company Storm King Comics. More specifically, it falls under their newly minted Dark & Twisted imprint. This imprint releases tales that focus on the horror of everyday life or the horror that happens all the time in the most mundane of places. This graphic novel is no exception. It is based on the fact that more than 700 people go missing along the country’s highways. These missing people are often considered to be killed by serial killers.

Cullen Bunn’s newest endeavor tells the story of Sarah Blake. Blake is one of those missing 700 people. After she vanishes her brothers, Danny and Carl, decide to hunt down the “long haul” serial killers and uncover the truth about their sister. This hunt leads them to a group known as The Nine. These are a group of killers that have taken Sarah. So, the brothers decide to go through the group until they get to the one that took their sister.

Cullen Bunn: Horror Master

When putting together the creative team for Long Haul, Sandy King Carpenter wanted someone who could grab the reader’s attention. Someone who keep readers glued to the page like they were watching an actual horror film. Uncanny X-Men writer Cullen Bunn seems to be the perfect fit for that these days. While the writer has built an impressive resume with Marvel that includes several X-Men, Captain America, and Deadpool titles, it is his horror roots that make him perfect for this. This includes his horrifying Carnage run, as well as other horror issues like Shock Shop and Cold Spots.

Long Haul goes on sale 02/21.
