Curious Florida Citizen Wonders How Effective Windshield Spray Is Against Tailgating: ‘Road rage is real where I live, so this seems very, very inadvisable’

It is best to avoid unnecessary disputes

It is a fact that there are many bad drivers who are a danger to themselves and others, sometimes intentionally and sometimes accidentally. That is why this person asked on a subreddit if it would be a good idea to use windshield spray to counter tailgating drivers in Florida. At first glance, this “defensive measure” appears to be a creative and straightforward solution against such drivers. However, you have to be more careful with more aggressive drivers, such as those who engage in road rage or carry a weapon.

This is a device that sprays a little water on the persons windshield behind you when you push a button if someone is tailgating you. Is this legal in Florida? Or anywhere in the US

The redditor LilScooterBooty posted a peculiar question on r/legal, asking if it is legal in Florida to use windshield spray to combat tailgating drivers. These specific devices are placed on the rear of cars and can spray water onto the windshields of cars behind them. Of course, it only works when both vehicles are too close to each other. What also stands out about this post is that the windshield spray has the shape of the popular Pokémon Squirtle.

Many users expressed concern about using a device like that. Not because it’s dangerous to use it against others, but because it could be prejudicial for the owner of the windshield spray. The user Chemical-Captain4240 explained this idea better, saying: “Not a lawyer, but road rage is real where I live, so this seems very, very inadvisable.”

Reddit user Suspicious-Grand9781 shared how there are crazy people behind every steering wheel, and how everyone has to be careful: “I don’t know if it’s legal. I live in Oregon, and a man sprayed his own window to clean it on the highway. The spray hit the car behind him. That man passed him and shot and killed him as he drove past. Please use with caution.”

Although it may seem like a harmless idea to spray a little water at the driver behind you to keep them from driving too close, it isn’t exactly legal. It’s best to avoid sprays, especially to avoid any problems with the cops. There are also many drivers, or people in general, who would react very poorly, and that’s what’s really dangerous.
