A D.C. woman blasts Carnival Cruise over alleged molded bread, bed bugs, spoiled chicken, and racial profiling at the onboard restaurant. She claims four separate incidents made this “[her] first and last time sailing with them.” Her TikTok video has over 354,000 views, over 5,000 likes, and over 1,000 comments.
The first incident, the D.C. woman explains, “I was served toast containing visible mold.” She says she told the waiter, and the chef visited and apologized. However, this raised concerns for her about the safety and quality of the food. The next incident took place at the onboard Steakhouse where she and her husband were allegedly profiled. When they arrived, an employee told them that he knew who they were there to join: another black couple. She and her husband weren’t there to meet anyone, and she claims everyone else in the restaurant besides the two couples was Caucasian.
The third incident occurred when they ordered room service. The D.C. woman took a bite of a chicken wing and “immediately realized the chicken was spoiled.” She reported this and claims she received an apology note and cookies. However, this reiterated her concerns over food safety. The fourth incident occurred a day before debarking when they encountered “what appeared to be a bed bug.” She claims after reporting this, “We were told the bed bugs were ‘dead’.” Furthermore, she argues that only the “bare minimum” has been done to fix the issues, only a $150 credit and apologies.
Mixed Reaction To D.C. Woman’s Claims
The D.C. woman’s claims receive mixed reactions. One commenter argues the cruise line isn’t at fault for bed bugs. They state, “It’s the people that knew they had bed bugs that still brought items from home.” Another agrees, “While this is concerning, this is because somebody brought this on a ship.” Others are questioning the reality of her claims. A third commenter argues, “I’ve been on multiple Carnival Cruises and never seen any signs of filth or bug infestation.”
However, several take her side. One states, “That is absolutely a full-grown bed bug.” Another states cruises give away a $100 credit after fixing a toilet and should do better. They say, “150 for BED BUGS? No way. They need to refund the cost of the cruise!” Meanwhile, one person claims, “We are on this cruise, and it’s been horrible. We had roaches.”
When the D.C. woman and her husband disembarked, they were told they wouldn’t receive a full refund. They are requesting that the incidents be investigated and “provide [them] with a meaningful resolution.”
