We’ve reached a point where politics is everywhere. You walk outside of your house, and it’s politics this and politics that. Recently, interviewer Katie Miller talked with the co-owner of the Dallas Cowboys and asked her about her opinion regarding Bad Bunny being the artist of the halftime show, claiming the singer has been “divisive” with his political thoughts. However, the co-owner quickly shut down the interviewer, saying that no one cares about politics on this day. Everyone will be focusing on the game and the show.
The clip comes from the Katie Miller Podcast. Here, Katie Miller interviews the Dallas Cowboys co-owner, Charlotte Jones, and talks about Bad Bunny, who we know will be performing in the halftime show.
The interviewer asks Jones about her thoughts regarding Bad Bunny performing in this year’s Super Bowl. To which she quickly replies, “I think it’s awesome. Our Latino fan base is amazing.” She continues to say that in the Super Bowl, they want the number one artist, and how the show goes out to everyone around the world. She then says that having the premier entertainer is amazing.
During this, you can see Miller’s face of disagreement, who then asks, “You don’t think at a time when his comments were divisive as it relates to President Trump, when everyone is just seeking this political unification, that you’d want somebody who maybe didn’t touch politics to be on stage?“
However, Jones quickly and politely shut down Miller’s question, saying, “I don’t think our game’s about politics. I don’t think people tune in to look at politics. We do everything we can to avoid politics. This is about bringing people together.”
It was really great to see the Dallas Cowboys co-owner stand her ground and keep politics out of the Super Bowl, which, as she said, should be all about bringing people together, not causing division. Still, many believe Miller’s comments, a Trump supporter, were ironic.
“The fact that people are trying to call Bad Bunny divisive is crazy when every word out of Trump’s mouth is dividing the country,” said one user.
“Wow, she gave some great answers. Never veering off topic. Oddly, though, Bad Bunny is not an immigrant as he was born and raised in the US,” commented another user.
Ultimately, staying away from politics is almost impossible. We all know what the country’s situation is right now, and it will continue to be so. Yet, as Jones says, let’s hope the Super Bowl remains politics-free. We only want to watch the game and the halftime show.
