Among the most terrible people out there, those who abandon their dogs in public or inside cars are at the top of the list. Sadly, an event involving said person happened recently. A Redditor user shared a picture of a dog at the back of a truck in Dallas, Texas, that sat there for three hours. Contrary to other stories, this one has a bit of a better ending. Why? You ask. Well, it seems the authorities arrived to free the dog. And, by the looks of it, it won’t be locked inside a cage anymore.
The post comes from Reddit user xxspirita_incondita, who shared it on the r/Dallas community. In the picture, a dog is locked inside a cage in the back of a truck. If the user had gone for only one minute, then people might’ve understood that. It’s still bad to leave a dog abandoned in a car, though. However, the OP mentions that the dog sat there for three long hours.
Fortunately, the person who shared the picture said the following: “The dog has been removed from the owner’s custody, and the owner has been contacted and informed of their wrongdoing and potentially cited.” Of course, the OP didn’t share any information about the Dallas driver who abandoned their dog as per Reddit rules. Also, it seems that both the Dallas PD and Animal Services arrived at the scene to free the dog.
As expected, many had strong opinions toward the driver.
“Texas, in general, is very cruel to pets. Volunteer at a rescue, and you’ll see for yourself. I had to stop for my mental health.” – IntrovertExplorer via Reddit.
“You quite possibly saved a life, thank you for taking the time to stop & rescue an innocent, helpless animal.” – ChanceT7 via Reddit.
Right now, everyone hopes the dog is in a more comfortable place and hopefully with way better owners than the driver. Also, it’s nice that there are people out there willing to go out of their way to help these loyal companions.
